What is the Difference Between IS, IM and CLUB Sports??

INTERSCHOLASTIC (IS) and INTRAMURAL (IM) SPORTSInterscholastic and Intramural sports provide students an opportunity to compete against other BVSD middle school students in Basketball, Cross Country, Flag Football, Soccer, Track, Volleyball and Wrestling.  The emphasis is on growing socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.  All skill levels are welcome.  Students will benefit from team building, training, competition, and connection with coaches and peers.

  • Registration, Physicals, and Payment must be received before students can participate in the sport.

  • Deadlines to register are firm due to MLAC rules and coaching allocations.

  • Registration is completed in rSchool.

  • Athletic payment is submitted in RevTrak:  $100 fee per IS sport.  $50 fee for IM Soccer.

  • IS and IM sports require an up to date physical from a clinic or doctor's office and should be uploaded into your rSchool account.  Participation in the sport is prohibited without a physical.  Physicals are considered current/valid up to 1 year from the date of the physical. IE: 5/4/23-5/4/24.  If your student’s physical expires mid- season, it is your responsibility to provide an updated one to ensure their continued participation.   If you are unable to upload it please email scanned copies to treacy.cole@bvsd.org.

  • A Final Clearance email with coaching and season details will be sent to parents/guardians once registration, the required physical and payment are received.  If the registration is incomplete, it is the family's responsibility to ensure completion for participation.

  • Practices are held at LMS and typically run after school M-F, 3:50 - 5:00 pm unless otherwise noted by coaches.

  • Be prepared to participate in your sport the day it starts.

  • Students will be informed of expectations, responsibilities and season details at the first practice. Email coaches for questions, comments or concerns.

  • IS sports have weekly games/meets and compete with other BVSD middle schools.  For away events, students travel via school bus to and from the location.

  • IM Boys and Girls Soccer have a district wide culminating event.

CLUB SPORTS

  • Club sports are designed to encourage students to try something new and get introduced to the foundations of the sport.  The emphasis is not on competition, but rather participation.  All skill levels are welcome!!  It’s a great way to connect with peers, make new friends, get some exercise, and learn a new skill!

  • Club sports typically fill up quickly so register early to avoid missing out.  (6th/7th Coed Volleyball is limited to 30 participants.)

  • Registration is completed in rSchool.

  • Registration must be received before students can participate in the sport.

  • No Physical required for Club sports.

  • There is no Fee required for Club sports.

  • A Final Clearance email with coaching and season details will be sent to parents/guardians once the registration has been processed by the LMS Athletic Assistant.

  • Practices are held at LMS and typically run after school M-F, 3:50 - 5:00 pm unless otherwise noted by the coach.

  • Be prepared to participate in your sport the day it starts.

  • Students will be informed of expectations, responsibilities and season details at the first practice.  Email coaches for questions, comments or concerns.
